Cognitive Assessment Applying with Item Response Theory
نویسندگان
چکیده
Using item response theory (IRT) in computer adaptive test (CAT) is critical to assess learners’ readiness for further learning. This theory has assumptions concerning the mathematical relationship between learner’s abilities and item responses. A numerical value from the theory has potential to decide who the best learner is. The IRT score only provides the learner’s result and lack of the assessment of learner’s ability level in cognitive skills. This paper proposes an approach of using Bloom’s cognitive skills for evaluating learned ability level by considering achieved the level of difficulty and the IRT score. Our starting point in the adaptive test is at a question of learners’ knowledge level difficulty that we got from their pre-test scores instead of starting with a question of a medium difficulty. This approach provides the effectiveness of CAT to test cognitive skills and offers some theoretical considerations on linking learning outcomes and assessments.

Selecting the Best Fit Model in Cognitive Diagnostic Assessment: Differential Item Functioning Detection in the Reading Comprehension of the PhD Nationwide Admission Test
This study was an attemptto provide detailed information of the strengths and weaknesses of test takers‟ real ability through cognitive diagnostic assessment, and to detect differential item functioning in each test item. The rationale for using CDA was that it estimates an item‟s discrimination power, whereas clas- sical test theory or item response theory depicts between rather within item mu...

ویژگیهای روانسنجی مقیاس افسردگی نوجوانان براساس نظریه سوال- پاسخ و مقایسه نتایج با نظریه کلاسیک آزمون
Background and Aim: The objective of this study was to assess the psychometric properties of the Adolescent Depression Scale (ADS) based on the item-response theory and compare the results with those based on the classic test theory. Materials and Methods: A total of 750 students (364 males and 386 females) were selected through multistage random clustering (levels proportional to size) and ...
متن کاملModelling melodic discrimination tests: Descriptive and explanatory approaches
Melodic discrimination tests have been used for many years to assess individual differences in musical abilities. These tests are usually analysed using classical test theory. However, classical test theory is not well-suited for optimising test efficiency or for investigating construct validity. This paper addresses this problem by applying modern item response modelling techniques to three me...
متن کاملCognitive Assessment Models with Few Assumptions, and Connections with Nonparametric IRT
In recent years, as cognitive theories of learning and instruction have become richer, and computational methods to support assessment have become more powerful, there has been increasing pressure to make assessments truly criterion referenced, that is, to “report” on student achievement relative to theory-driven lists of examinee skills, beliefs and other cognitive features needed to perform t...
